  • Comprehensive Techniques for Improving the Utilization Rate of Sows in Large-scale Pig Farms

    The main task of sows is to breed piglets. The reproductive performance of sows is different due to different techniques adopted in the production of pig farms, which determines the utilization rate of sows and the number of sows in the pig farms. The article analyzed the reproductive performance of sows from the technical point of view, so that the utilization rate of sows can be paid enough attention in the production of pig farms.It is suggested that the technical training should be strengthened in pig farms to improve the corresponding technical level. Meanwhile, pig farms should make the full use of reproductive performance of sows to obtain the maximum economic benefit.

  • Effects of n-3 Fatty Acids Supplementation on Performance, Relative Organ Weight and Fatty Acid Composition of Thigh Meat in Broiler Chickens

    This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation with marine microbe accumulating n-3 fatty acids on growth performance, relative organ weight and fatty acid composition of thigh meat in broilers. A total of 480 broilers were randomly allotted to three treat-ments with eight replications per treatment and 20 chicks per pen. A corn-soybean meal-based diet was formulated as a control diet and the broilers were then provided with one of the following dietary treatments:(1) CON(basal diet);(2) N0.1(basal diet+0.10% marine microbe accumulating n-3 fatty acids);(3) N0.2(basal diet+0.20% marine microbe accumulating n-3 fatty acids). No significant differences were observed in the growth performance or the relative organ weight among treatments. However, the levels of saturated fatty acids(SFA) and monounsaturated fatty acids(MUFA)were significantly lower(P<0.05) in groups that received the n-3 fatty acids treatments, whereas polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA) were increased(P<0.05) significantly in these groups. Overall, these results indicate that dietary supplementation with marine microbe accumulating n-3 fatty acids can increase PUFA and decrease SFA and MUFA in thigh meat.

  • Rescue of Alcoholism in Dogs

Taking a case of canine alcoholism as an example, this paper expounds the diagnosis and treatment process of the disease, in order to provide references for veterinary workers.

  • Identification and Treatment of Swine Influenza and Common Cold in Veterinary Clinic

    [Objective] The paper was to investigate the differentiation and treatment of swine influenza and common cold in veterinary clinic.[Method] The clinical data of diseased pigs from May 2017 to May 2018 were analyzed retrospectively to explore the clinical treatment methods for swine influenza and common cold, and the effectiveness and accuracy of clinical diagnosis was further improved. [Result] Through in-depth analysis of test results, we obtained a comprehensive understanding of the main causes of swine influenza and common cold, and found that the causes in-cluded improper breeding management of pigs, nutrition of pigs and lack of immunity of newborn pigs. [Conclusion] Analysis of the causes of swine influenza and common cold and suggestion of targeted clinical treatment measures will reduce the incidence of swine disease, and promote the vet-erinary clinical treatment effect of swine influenza and common cold.

  • Biological Characterization and Whole Genome Sequencing of a Genotype VII Newcastle Disease Virus Strain

    [Objective] The aim of this paper was to study the genotype, pathogenicity and nucleotide difference between Newcastle disease virus(NDV) isolates and traditional NDV vaccine strain(La Sota). [Method] A suspected NDV strain was isolated from a chicken farm. The isolate was preliminarily determined by HA and HI tests. A pair of primers was designed based on the partial sequence of NDV F gene published in GenBank(accession No. JF950510.1). F gene was amplified by RT-PCR, cloned and sequenced. The sequencing result was compared with the F gene sequences published in GenBank, and the phylogenetic tree was constructed to analyze the genotypes. The pathogenicity of the virus was determined by mean death time(MDT) of chicken embryos, intracerebral pathogenicity index(ICPI) of one-day-old chicks and intravenous pathogenicity index(IVPI) of six-week-old chickens, respectively. Based on the NDV genome sequence published in GenBank(accession No. JF950510.1), nine pairs of primers were designed to amplify the genome sequence of the isolate, and its structure was analyzed. [Result] The length of F gene was about 500 bp, and a NDV strain of genotype VII was isolated. The MDT, ICPI and IVPI were 52.8 h, 1.675 and 2.46, respectively, indicating the isolate was a virulent strain. The whole genome sequence analysis results showed that the full genome length of the isolate was 15 192 bp, which had 6 more nu-cleotides than that of La Sota strain, and the homology between the two strains was 82.8%. [Conclusion] A virulent NDV strain of genotype Ⅶ was isolated, with low homology to La Sota strain in nucleotide sequence.

  • A Review:Toxicity of Ammonia-N to Fish and Detoxification Strategy of Fish

    In natural water, the content of ammonia nitrogen is always kept at a low level. However, the ammonia nitrogen content in water will be elevated or even excessive when the density of aquaculture is too large or exogenous ammonia are discharged into the water, causing a series of ad-verse effects on fish survival. Within a certain range, fishes reduce ammonia production in vivo by converting ammonia into glutamine and urea, and increase NH3 volatilization and NH4+emissions to ease ammonia toxicity, but the ability to alleviate ammonia poisoning vary with fish species and size. The ammonia nitrogen sources, existence form, factors affecting toxicity, toxic mechanism and detoxification strategy of fish are reviewed, in or-der to provide reference for improving the ability of fish to alleviate ammonia nitrogen toxicity and healthy farming.

  • Response of Spatio-temporal Distribution of Fishery Resources to Mairne Environment in the Northern South China Sea

    [Objective] The paper was to investigate the spatio-temporal distribution of fishery resources in the northern South China Sea and to provide reference for scientific evaluation and effective protection of fishery resources in the northern South China Sea. [Methods] Based on monitoring data and satellite remote sensing data [including Sea Surface Temperature(SST), Chlorophyll a concentration(Chl a) and Sea Surface Wind(SSW)] in winter(January to February) and summer(August to September) in the northern South China Sea, the relationship between spatio-temporal distribution of fishery resources and marine environment was investigated by using Generalized Linear Models(GLM), fishing ground gravity and correlation analysis. [Results] The suitable SST and Chl a of light falling-net fishing ground in winter were 17-23°C and 0.2-0.6 mg/m3, respectively. The suitable SST and Chl a in summer were approximately 28°C and 0.2-1.0 mg/m3. Standardized Catch Per Unit Effort(SCPUE) was higher in summer(2-4) and lower in winter(1-3). From winter to summer, the fishing ground gravity migrated to the east about 1 °E. [Conclusion] The spatio-temporal distribution of fishery resources is related to eastern Hainan-western Guangdong upwelling and the coastal flow, caused by the monsoon in the northern South China Sea, and the major catch species of light falling-net.

  • Effects of Hypoxic Environment on Life Rhythm of Apodemus peninsulae

    [Objective] The paper was to investigate the effect of hypoxic environment on life rhythm of Apodemus peninsulae. [Method] A. peninsulae were captured and fed in indoor hypoxic environment from May 2015 to October 2016. The respiratory frequency, activity level, food intake and water intake of A. peninsulae were analyzed under different oxygen concentrations. [Result] With the decrease of oxygen concentration, the respiratory frequency of A. peninsulae decreased, and the respiratory depth deepened, while the activity level, food intake and water intake de-creased. [Conclusion] The hypoxic environment had an impact on the respiratory frequency, activity level, food intake and water intake of A. peninsulae.
